Pat’s fascination with textiles goes back to childhood. She had mentors surrounding her and they instilled a love of embroidery as well as many of the crafts they enjoyed. She began her artistic journey toward the end of her nursing career when she had the time to take courses in colour theory, machine embroidery, felting, Elizabethan embroidery, etc. These were door openers and she has since completed a two year program of Art and Design, courses in dyeing with both acid and natural dyes. She is involved with the North Shore Needle Arts Guild and the Vancouver Embroiderers’ Guild. She is part of a nine member art fibre group: Threadcentricity. They exhibit their work in galleries throughout the northwest area. She will speak about her passion for about textile art and all forms of embroidery and bring samples of her work to show.
