The Box Top Challenge
Every year we issue a challenge to members to stretch their creative sides. This coming year, we have adopted a challenge done lately by a lot of Guilds – including the Victoria Quilters’ Guild (Picture of some items above). Of course we will add a little TAGOR spin to it! Here is the TAGOR Box Top Challenge:
From June to August, members will collect the tops or side panels of any commercially available product – cereal boxes, tissue boxes, rice/pasta boxes – if it comes in a box, just cut out a panel before recycling. At the September General Meeting, those wishing to participate will blindly draw a panel from a closed bag. The participant will then be asked to make a textile item using the colours on the selected box top and only those colours. Your item can be anything from an embroidered postcard to a COC quilt or a knitted scarf. It can be a personal item or one that will be donated. The only constraint will be the colours – you must use them all.
The finished items will be revealed at the January 2027 General Meeting as part of our Show & Tell. If you need help with photography or have any questions, please contact Vickie.
